I started at the beginning. My great-grandfather’s ashes are at the St Petersburg crematorium. I went there early this morning and found the scent of rain and lilacs, a crowd of many mourners and a much more engaging military cemetery on my way back to the metro. I would have been content to shoot pretty flowers and “enjoy the nature,” but a parade came my way and I was taken with the uniforms.
